An American echo in Catalonia
Whenever I stand at the spot where this snapshot was taken, the image of an American freight train rolling down the middle of a city street always springs to mind, its bell clanging constantly to warn everyone of its colossal approach.
We might not quite have that level of scale here, but interestingly enough, we do have a very similar setup. In this case, it is a metre-gauge line, and it even features a locomotive of American heritage — from General Motors, no less.
Class 254.01 from Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, looking a little weathered, hauls a long rake of potash hopper wagons on its way to the port for unloading.
