The Lleida-La Pobla line has always been a secondary branch line with a fascinating history, boasting a scenic beauty that is hard to match in these parts.

In 2005, management of the line was transferred to Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, and in 2016, the company introduced its own newly acquired Stadler trains. Between 2005 and 2016, following substantial upgrades to the track, stations, and halts, the trains running the commercial services were still owned by Renfe Operadora and operated by their own crew. It was an 11-year period that created a rather curious hybrid setup.

In this snapshot, taken during its final months of operation, you can see one of the Class 592 "Camello" diesel multiple units working from an unusual platform at La Pobla de Segur station. On this occasion, it was routed there because the main line was occupied by the magnificent "Tren dels Llacs" heritage tourist train.
