Traveling to another era, F.C. Palma-Soller
Wood, relays, resistors, contactors, iron, rivets, screws, grease...
Mythical scents, forgotten sounds, long-gone clickety-clacks... it is a utopia on rails. It even still trundles right through the middle of the city of Palma, just as it did a century ago...
Time stands still for this RAILWAY in capital letters. Despite the Germanic tourist invasion, you can barely spot any changes in it (except for the ticket price). Everything remains the same: the identical systems, materials, methods... Everything.
You can hear the roar of the gears, smell the grease from the bearings, feel the texture of the timber... It is an absolute must-visit for any Spanish enthusiast who wants to experience a proper vintage electric train. There are no words, only sensations.
Here is a snapshot we took at Sóller station, where we can see Railcar No. 1 working a special service that was scheduled for 5:00 pm due to the huge influx of passengers that day.
