A historical journey with an unexpected twist

A historical journey with an unexpected twist

In December 2012, the AAFCB (Barcelona Railway Friends Association) organised this historical railtour. Passengers departed from Barcelona Pl. Espanya on a double-unit set of Class 213s, travelling as far as Martorell Enllaç to connect with the heritage train to Igualada. The return leg was to be identical, but in reverse.

The heritage rake was formed of the restored FGC locomotive 1003 (ex-MOP/MO, Manresa - Olvan, built in 1955 by Alstom) + F13 + coaches C31 + C36 + C-103 + C-117 + HG219.

Unfortunately, the cooling system on the heritage locomotive 1003 failed, meaning it had to be rescued and hauled by locomotive 254.01.

Here is the return service to Martorell, pictured just past Vilanova del Camí station, but already within the municipality of La Pobla de Claramunt.
