Light Railway of Schöneiche near Berlin
About 25 km east of Berlin city centre, at the Friedrichshagen stop on line S3 of the S-Bahn we find a very curious interurban tram terminal. At the adjacent S-Bahn stop, we have line 87.
The Schöneicher-Rüdersdorfer Straßenbahn GmbH company serves this line, number 88, which connects the mentioned station with the communities of Schöneiche and the neighborhood Alt Rüdersdorf, in the city of Rüdersdorf.
The interest of the visit lies in the rolling stock, although it is worth mentioning how nice the line is. In 2018, the tram fleet was as follows:
- 4 Düwag GT6 comprados a la red de tranvías de Heidelberg, construidos entre 1964 y 1973.
- 3 Tatra KT4DNF comprados a la red de tranvías de Cottbus, construidos entre 1987 y 1990.
In the first and second photos we can see various Düwag GT6s, one of them modified as a tram-depot. In the first, leaving Friedrichshagen, and in the second, at the Schöneiche depot.
In the third photo, we can see a Tatra KT4DNF on the double-track section, leaving the Schöneiche stop.
Scanned photos from negatives.
