The best of the Pyrenees (from a railway point of view)

I can no longer publish my photos without first giving a mention to this small but great train. The Yellow Train, The Yellow Train of Cerdanya. This wonder which miraculously almost entirely continues to operate is the entire railway experience that nobody who enjoys this little world should miss out on.

Tracks without welding that provide a quiver as magical as old, the roar of gears enriching the ears, compressors that can be appreciated at different rhythms according to the electric needs of traction... And if we add the views, gorges, tunnels, the abruptness of the terrain and the sinuousness of the route; we have a railway line in capital letters.

There have been rumors circulating that for the year 2016, SNCF intended to cut back on the line to Font-Romeu or Mont-Lluis from Villefranche, let's hope it's not true and we can enjoy this mobile museum for many more decades.

The snapshot was taken in the municipality of Saillagouse, over the bridge of Rec de Baell.

The line also has two recent Stadler motor cars in Switzerland that have caused nothing but problems, apart from taking almost all the charm out of the line with their nearly airtight cars, lacking practicable windows or open cars, nor any of the mechanic's artisanal preservation.
