Provisional station of Montmeló

While the new underground Montmeló station was under construction, the line was diverted via the trackbed of the Barcelona - French Border high-speed line (LAV), and a temporary station was built to serve the town.

The Butanero (butane train) No. 83856 from Montornès to Tarragona rushes past, hauled by a Traxx locomotive with barely a year of service under its belt. Curiously, the numbering on the locomotive showed 253-046-6. This locomotive ran for two years with an incorrect check digit, as the correct numbering should have been 253-046-7.

In contrast, the veteran 470-035 —which, at the time of the photograph, was the lowest-numbered unit of the series running in Catalonia— is seen working Regional service No. 15812 from Cerbère to Barcelona Sants.
