One very special day (and II)

Just like the previous post, the following day I returned to the outskirts of Sant Pol de Mar to photograph the Estrella Costa Brava.

To the surprise of everyone there, it appeared hauled by 252-023 —the very last locomotive to sport the colours of Renfe's Grandes Líneas business unit— which was the absolute icing on the cake.

Another snapshot that deserves a place in this post is the international boat train service that connected Barcelona - Sants with Figueres-Vilafant via the conventional line early in the morning, allowing passengers to catch a connection with the Figueres to Paris TGV. This service ran because the high-speed line down to Barcelona was not yet operational.
