On a freezing winter morning, the first rays of sunlight reveal the Estrella Costa Brava No. 00370 from Madrid Chamartín to Cerbère, slowing down to make its scheduled stop in Granollers.

Meeting in Calaf

Considering that the days were numbered for the 470 units operating between Hospitalet de Llobregat and Lleida Pirineus via Manresa and vice versa, we took advantage of Calaf's microclimate to capture some shots in the snow. The result was satisfactory, and since that day, I have had my own postcard to send holiday greetings.

In the photo, we see the crossing of the two afternoon services at Calaf station. On the left, there is an Adif technician from the Lleida base, who shortly before was equipped with a blowtorch in case the station's switches resisted changing due to ice. During this stop, which could be considered a technical stop, the drivers switch positions between units, so each can return to their origin. The technician also joined this stop on that particular day, which was quite extraordinary.
